Lead Your Own Life

Hello, I’m Qin

Qin, founder of Lead Your Own Life, in Montpellier

Two people. One body.

Maybe you know this feeling too.

You can see clearly that a relationship is hurting you. You know something has to change. And yet, when the moment comes to leave, let go, or choose yourself, something keeps pulling you back.

I know that feeling because I lived it.

I went through a relationship in which, little by little, I stopped feeling like myself. I no longer knew who I was, and I barely recognised the person I had become.

It felt like two people living in one body.

One part of me knew, with complete clarity, that the relationship was damaging my life and that I needed to leave.

The other was still too deeply attached to go.

I tried several times. Each time, I went back.

My moods began to depend on someone else’s moods. Whether they felt close or distant could change my entire day. And without really noticing it, I made myself smaller and smaller because I was afraid of being left.

That was the contradiction I found hardest to understand:

we can know something is hurting us and still struggle to let it go.

Why we stay with someone who hurts us, even when we know

When we’re in a relationship like this, people around us often say the same things:

Why don’t you just leave?
You know this isn’t good for you.
You need to be stronger.

But knowing is not always the problem.

I already knew.

What I didn’t understand was why I kept holding on to something I could already see was hurting me. Why someone else’s attention could affect my whole day. Why losing them could sometimes feel more frightening than losing more of myself.

And I think this is where many of us get stuck.

We aren’t staying simply because we don’t know better.

There is a difference between knowing we need to leave and understanding why we still can’t let go.

Being told what to do doesn’t close that gap.

Understanding what keeps us holding on can.

And once we begin to see that more clearly, we can start bringing our attention, our choices, and our life back to ourselves.

That is what Lead Your Own Life is here to help us do.

Not to tell us who to leave.

Not to tell us how we should feel.

But to help us see more clearly what is keeping us stuck — so we can begin choosing our own life again.

Three ways back to yourself

The Videos

Lead Your Own Life · YouTube

When you know a relationship is hurting you — but leaving, letting go, or finding yourself again still feels difficult.

Why can’t I let go when I know better?
Why does uncertainty feel like chemistry?
Why am I waiting for someone else to change before I can live my own life?

Here, we explore what keeps us stuck: anxious attachment, emotional unavailability, fear of abandonment, and the patterns that make it so hard to walk away.

Most of us were never taught how to love — we learned how to survive. So we overthink distance, question our worth, and lose ourselves trying to be enough for someone else.

Lead Your Own Life is about understanding what relationship pain reveals about us — so we can stop letting someone else’s choices define our worth, return to our own judgment, and make choices that are truly ours.

The Guides

Free · Printable

For the moments that keep pulling you away from yourself.

One real moment.
One practical method.
One grounded next step.

Each guide is a practical, printable practice built around a specific relationship moment — something you noticed, excused, waited for, or could not let go.

It helps you separate what happened from what you added to it, see what is yours to choose, and leave with one next step you can take.

No perfect answer required. Just a clearer way back to yourself.

The LYOL App

Waiting list

During that period, I looked for support in different places.

Therapy gave me context. Friends gave me care. AI offered explanations. Each mattered.

But I was still missing support for a different moment: the moment my attention became centred on the relationship again.

The question that stayed with me was:

What would be the simplest and most practical way to find myself back?

That question became LYOL.

When your attention keeps returning to them — the message, the silence, the explanation, the possibility — LYOL creates a pause and walks you back, one step at a time:

Put what you are feeling into words.
Hear it named, not judged.
Say it back in your own voice.
Choose one small step.

LYOL does not decide the relationship for you. It helps you remain present in your own life while you decide.

One moment. One choice. One return at a time.
